This brought me life the past few mornings. Perfect warm drink for when it recently snowed. Tea or coffee is your usual, but with the latest Turmeric trend you might shift gears. Turmeric has been found to have a number of health benefits. I use it in a lot of my meals for flavoring, but never really thought to add it in my cup! Once I did, to my surprise it was delicious.
Turmeric is being referred to as a “superspice” these days because of curcumin, a prominent nutrient in it. Turmeric has been a long time staple ingredient in India, used as a flavoring agent or for medicinal purposes. Basically, curcumin not only imparts the flashy color of turmeric, it is a polymath of a polyphenol, with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective properties. With this said, I’ll drink to that with some of that, lol.
Here’s to the recipe…
- 1 1/2 cups Almond Milk
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1/2 tbs Coconut Oil, unrefined
- 1 Tbs Turmeric
- 1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp Ground Ginger
- 1/4 tsp Black Pepper
- Add ingredients to a saucepan, and bring to a boil.
- As the milk heats, whisk the ingredients. Transfer to a blender and blend for about 3 minutes or so to allow it to become frothy and creamy.
- Transfer to cup and Enjoy!
